"The Holiday" Stars' Beauty Routines, Probably

Plenty of holiday movies from years past have reached iconic status, but as much as we love watching Kevin McCallister get into trouble and Buddy the Elf spread Christmas cheer around Manhattan, not much compares to the magic of a holiday escape to a faraway land — be it the English countryside or the suburbs of LA that are the settings for Nancy Myers's "The Holiday." And every year since 2006, when it first came out, this one is on the top of our watch list. It has holiday cheer, newfound love, and, lest we forget, fashion. Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz), a big-time Hollywood movie trailer producer, and Iris (Kate Winslet), a lovesick journalist, each have a signature style that still inspires today. People have created entire aesthetics on TikTok and Pinterest dedicated to the characters, and we can't help but wonder what their beauty routines would look like. Though we can only imagine what a peek inside their respective makeup bags would yield, we feel like we have a pretty good idea. Ahead, take a look at the makeup products "The Holiday" stars would undoubtedly stock on their vanities, from a Chanel powder compact for Amanda to the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara for Iris. These products will help you tap into your inner Nancy Myers storyline. Makeup Products Amanda Woods From "The Holiday" Would Wear Amanda would definitely have a standing weekly appointment at the hair and nail salon. She'd shop for groceries at Erewhon and makeup at Violet Grey. Her dermatologist would be on a first-name basis with her, and she'd bubble up all of her Botox and Skinvive questions to them via text. She wouldn't really care about clean beauty as much as she'd just want her products to work. Her signature makeup look would fit in perfectly with the "quiet luxury" trend; she'd like to get dolled up but still look effortless. The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder ($60) would be in her work bag at all times for touch-ups between meetings and after Pilates class. On her eyes, she'd use the Future Lash Mascara ($30) from Victoria Beckham Beauty, because a friend of the Spice Girl-turned-entrepreneur would have recommended it to her. She'd also have a few shimmery shades of the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadow ($32) on hand for special occasions because they're quick and easy to use and add a wash of color to the lid without looking like she tried too hard. She'd have a tube of the Dior Lip Glow Oil ($40) in every designer bag she owns (and she'd tell everyone who'd listen how she loved it long before it went viral on TikTok). Le Labo Santal 33 ($230) would be her signature fragrance, but she wouldn't tell anyone. Makeup Products Iris From "The Holiday" Would Wear Iris would be ahead of the natural, no-makeup makeup trend long before it was cool. She'd care about how she looked — especially because she's trying to impress Jasper at the office — but she wouldn't be up to date on the latest trends and brands (unless a friend introduced her to them). She'd have her favorite products that she discovered years ago, most likely from the drugstore because she's working with a journalist's salary, after all, and stick with them. A few taps of the L'Oréal True Match Super-Blendable Powder ($13) would be all she'd use to conceal her undereyes and blemishes, and she'd swipe the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ($9) in the color brownish-black on her eyelashes and eyebrows (an old-school hack she picked up from her mom). Lipstick and gloss wouldn't really be her thing, but she'd be obsessed with the Ilia Beauty Balmy Tint Lip Balm ($28) in the shade Lullaby, a cool rosy pink. A new addition to her routine would be the Pixi by Petra On-the-Glow Blush Stick ($20), which she'd stumble upon during a trip to the local Target while staying in Amanda's LA abode. And maybe, just maybe, they'd swap some products and beauty tips when they occupied the other's house.
