Inspiration For the "Mean Girls" Hair and Makeup

Get ready for a whole new cast of faces in the upcoming "Mean Girls" musical reimagination hitting theaters on Jan. 12. The film's glam team took on the challenge of updating the iconic looks from the original film for a modern audience. Drawing inspiration from TikTok and Gen Z influencers, they aimed to create more expressive and artistic hair and makeup looks.

How Reneé Rapp Transformed Into Regina George

Reneé Rapp takes on the role of the sassy and confident Regina George in the remake. The hair and makeup team drew inspiration from classic blond bombshells like Cher Horowitz from "Clueless" and Rachel McAdams's portrayal of Regina in the original film. They also looked to the iconic Beyoncé for influence, particularly for the Halloween scene. The goal was to create an updated version of Regina's flawless look, with glowing skin, a clean black wing, and a seductive lip.

Beauty Products Used on Set

While the fictional characters in the movie used E.l.f. Cosmetics, the behind-the-scenes team opted for trendy products from Violette FR, Merit, Ilia Beauty, and more. For Regina's glossy lips, they used the Dior Lip Oil in Raspberry. The sharp winged eyeliner was achieved with the KVD Beauty Super Pomade Vegan Eyeliner in Black. Regina's bold red lip in the holiday show was courtesy of Juvia's Place Liquid Lip in Scarlet. And her perfectly manicured nails featured press-on nails from Chillhouse Chill Tips and Static Press-On Nails.

For Rapp's hair, the team used the Unite Hair 7Seconds Detangler Leave-In Conditioner, Ouai Leave In Conditioner & Heat Protectant, and the Tecuane Scalp Tonic. These products helped achieve the flawless and modern look for the new Regina George.
